We Love

We have worked with some great companies to make The Baking Lab what it is. These companies all stand for high quality and reliability – key factors for successful baking.

KitchenAid

www.kitchenaid.co.uk

When I turned 30 my family all chipped in and bought me a KitchenAid stand mixer. I use the mixer several times per week for both cake batters and dough with high hydration. Not only does this machine produce some amazing cakes, but it is also a beauty in the kitchen. It is a gorgeous domestic appliance that I do not tuck in to the cabinet when it’s not in use.
KitchenAid has created top quality small domestic kitchen appliances for over 90 years. Synonymous with the classic KitchenAid Mixer, renowned for its unparalleled mixing abilities and stunning retro design, KitchenAid also has a fantastic range of appliances available in a vast array of colours.  Whether it’s the Blender, Food Processor, Toaster, Espresso Maker, Burr Grinder or Waffle Baker, all are carefully designed to make cooking easy and enjoyable, promising a lifetime of excellence in strength and dependability.

Rice

Denmark is known for their design classics, and this company produce some fun, funky products that might one day become classics too! The products are all so well made, and when looking for baking equipment for children, I knew I had found the right match with Rice. Not only are the products colourful and fun, but they are also very durable.
Rice is a Danish home wares and accessories company. We are known for our colourful melamine, handmade baskets and storage and our hand glazed Italian tableware. Our designs are inspired by the “good old days” and are very down to earth with lots of detail. We hope to colour you happy when you are washing, cleaning, baking and relaxing in your home. We have a big heart and a strong social ethic.  As a result we are the first company in Denmark to have obtained the SA8000 accreditation for our special projects around the world. Our wish is to surround you with homely objects – down to earth – but still funky, fun and functional.

The Real Bread Campaign

www.realbreadcampaign.org

The Real Bread Campaign is a magnificent source of information. On their website you can find the bakeries across the country that sell breads without any additives. Once you become a member – which I can highly recommend – you become part of a community where professional and amateur bakers alike can ask any baking related questions they might have.

Part of the charity Sustain: the alliance for better food and farming, the Real Bread Campaign is helping to bring additive-free Real Bread back to the hearts of our local communities. Supported by the Big Lottery’s Local Food programme, Campaign initiatives include Real Bread making lessons in schools; encouraging the rise of Community Supported Baking, and helping to make Real Bread available in more public sector institutions and through food access projects. Set in a beautiful Cotswold valley near Tetbury, the mill at Shipton Moyne Wood has been producing flour since the time of the Domesday Book. Today it produces a wide variety of Speciality Flours, using both traditional grain and traditional methods.
